Overview of Vending Machines : Functions, Benefits, and Impact on Society
The 20th century saw the rise of vending
machines, which we still often find on the streets today. Vending machine is a
revolutionary invention that was first introduced in England in the early 1880s.
This automatic vending machine is revolutionary because we are able
to buy food without having to interact with people directly. There
are various variations of vending machines, from those selling goods
to food products. Nowadays, we can find vending machines in
various places. They are very flexible and help us tremendously in
certain situations.
Vending machines work quite simply. When using an automatic vending machine, the buyer only needs to insert coins in order to make a purchase in the vending machine. After the payment has been completed, the buyer can choose the product they want to get by pressing corresponding button on the vending machine. The product will then be distributed from its storage to the collection point, which is located under the automatic vending machine. The buyer then can retrieve the product that they bought.
There are several components that make the vending machine
works. First, the most important component is the control panel. It is useful for
allowing buyers to choose which product they will buy. Then, there is a display screen that will appear which will provide information
to the buyer regarding the product being sold. Then, there is storage
space in the vending machine to store the products to be
sold.
When a person wants to buy a product from a vending machine
they first need to insert their money into one of the components called the
bill acceptor. This important component is basically the place where the user
insert their coins in order to make a purchase.
The mechanisms and machinaries found in vending
machines are useful for carrying out the functions of the
vending machine. One of which is the motor mechanism which is the part responsible of moving the shelves to release the products that has been
selected. There is also a security lock to lock the
vending machine so that the products being sold remain safe and would not
get stolen. Then there is a power supply whose job is to provide electrical
energy to the vending machine so that it can operate.
This automatic vending machine has the advantage
that it can be available for 24 hours without closing hours. This advantage can
save the buyer's time, lowering the operating costs, and making it easy to
monitor and manage the sales. However, apart from the advantages of automatic
vending machines, they also have their own disadvantages. One of which is that
the products that are being sold are limited by the storage
capacity of the automatic vending machine. Additionally, sometimes there are machine
failures or machine damages. If the failures occur, then it will have to be fixed immediately.
To sum up, the vending machine is a very helpful tool to society because of its flexibility and effectiveness. Its mechanism allows people to easily buy foods or snacks in many places at an instant. Regardless of the shortcomings that I gave, the vending machine is still very practical and useful. If it weren't for vending machines, people wouldn't be able to access goods as easily as they do now.
